Smile Wild Card Throwback Thursday Challenge

Here is a card I made for the Throwback Thursday Challenge this week.  It was a lot of fun experimenting with different wet embossing powders, trying to get just the right look.  Hope you are inspired by my final creation.  First, I started with the Wild Card cartridge and used the card from pg. 39 in the handbook.  I cut it at 5", then cut the inside oval of the liner also at 5".  You can use the hide contour feature to save yourself some paper using your Gypsy.  The sentiment tag is cut from Once Upon a Princess at .80" and 1".  The flowers are from SU's Vintage Vogue stamp set.   I wet embossed the large flower with irridescent embossing power I had on hand, then hand cut out the flowers.  I used the same technique on the front of the card, and the sentiment shadow as well, to make it look like glittery patterened paper.  On the smaller flower, I used the same stamp as the front of the card, this time using my Zig two-way glue pen applied to the stamp on the flowers.  I then added MS glitter to give them some sparkle.  The centers of the small flowers are from an EK Success border punch, using a small dot of The Best Glue ever and the same MS glitter.  The sentiment is from Miss Emma's "Turn Your Frown Upside Down"  stamp set.  The ribbon is from my stash by SU.

Here is a close-up of the flowers, although I was having extreme difficulty getting a clear photo.  I think you can see the effect of the irredescent embossing powers well enough to get the idea.  Of course, it's a lot prettier in person, and I hope the recipient likes it as much as I do.  I used a lavender rhinestone gem from Darice's for the center of the large flower to add a little more bling.

Inside sentiment is stamped  on another 5" liner from Wild Card on SU confetti white in Pear Pizazz ink and is from Miss Emma's "My Favorite Sayings" stamp set.  All cardstock is Stampin' Up.  The card itself is done in Pear Pizzaz, the inside liner which I attached to the backside of the front of the card is discontinued and stamped in Elegant Eggplant.  The sentiment shadow is also Elegant Egglplant.  Thanks for looking!

Laura Memo Pad cover

Memo pad made using Ashlyn's Alphabet and Once Upon a Princess cartridges.  I used the cursive feature in Ashlyn's Alaphabet and the tag feature on Once Upon a Princess.  I welded the letters together using my Gypsy and also made the tag background using the Gypsy.  I started by making the tag an additional 1/4 inch bigger then took the size proportion off and manipulated the width smaller until it looked like it was the same distance all the way around the tag.  This memo pad fits a 5x7 Jr. size legal pad.  Cardstock is cut at 12 x 8 1/8".  Score at 5 1/8, 5 1/2 and       5 7/8" .  First and last scores should be folded on the mountain.  The center score should be folded in the valley.   While the center is folded, snip 3" from the top on the center fold to the first score line and repeat at 3 1/2".  This will become your pen holder.  Place a piece of sticky strip tape between the center scoreline and 5 7/8" scoreline on the inside of your memo folder ensuring no tape is placed between the cuts as this will allow your pen holder to pop out once the pieces are folded over and secured to each other.  Once secured, pop out the pen holder using your finger from the inside.  You are now ready to cover the top of the memo pad.  Cut a piece of matching cardstock 5 x 2 1/4".  Score at 7/8" and again at 1 1/8".  Secure to the top of the memo pad in the front and back.  Punch decorative edge along the right edge of the back cover, secure memo pad inside and you have a very nice cover for your legal pad.  This is not my original idea.  I scraplifted the idea from one I received.

.

To make the pen insert, first start with a Pentel RSVP pen, cut a strip of paper  3 1/4 by 3/4".  Roll up and place around the ink cartridge.

All paper supplies and ribbon are Stampin' Up.  The purple is a retired color as well as the cardstock printed sticker which was included in a Simply Scrappin' kit from several years ago.  The dotted purple paper is also from Stampin' Up and is available.  The color is concord crush.  The ribbon color is Old Olive.  In case you are wondering, I am not a Stampin' Up consultant.  I just love their product because everything coordinates.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
